What a day it was!! We should say that all StationSoccer openings are an affair, but this one happens to be the most recent. On October 27th, we hosted our many friends and partners at the newly completed StationSoccer East Lake location for a full afternoon of activities. The event was sponsored by our partners at Amazon, and we are deeply thankful to them for the opportunity. Our friends at Atlanta United brought out several soccer games for everyone to play. MARTA did an amazing job finishing out the site, refurbishing signage, providing food trucks, and much more!! Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has also been a very consistent presence and sponsor of StationSoccer. Another special addition to the event was Georgia Power; we are so thankful to them for supplying highly efficient lighting that will keep kids and adults on this pitch well into the evenings -not to mention, bringing out a Rivian R1T for visitors to experience!!
Our Panel of VIP speakers was quite illustrious, leading off with Senator Jon Ossoff, who is a great fan and believer in the power of Soccer in the Streets. So much so, he has put us forward to receive a federal grant to further this work!! We were also so fortunate to hear from Collie Greenwood, CEO of MARTA, Lisa Benjamin, CEO of the City of Atlanta, Garth Lagerwey, CEO of Atlanta United, Misty Fernandez, GA Power's Regional Director, and from our host, Terreta Rogers, Head of Community Affairs - Atlanta Region.
The East Lake/Decatur community is quite excited about the pitch, and it is already in use daily. We have high hopes for the future of this location and what we can do to bring together more folks through the game of soccer.
